Under what conditions do educators reflect on their practice?
As an educator I have been reflecting on my practices in a very superficial and informal way, maybe this is because the school system does not provide teachers with the specific time or scheduled periods specially dedicated to this particular activities, I know this scenario is not the most appropriate one, but I think is a common problem we have to deal with day after day.
Creating appropriate conditions for educators to reflect on their practices will definitely be a huge step to encourage this activity; maybe if administrators facilitate groups of discussion, forums, online chats and reflective sessions during school hours, these practices will become more popular, functional and enriching.
We must build a community of practice involving the whole educational system from teachers to parents; this way everyone will be speaking the same language, assuming responsibilities and duties, building up some time to guarantee the regular practice of these processes in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
